The Surgical Neurology Branch of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH, offers intramural basic and clinical neuroscience fellowships for PGY2 to PGY7 level residents in ABNS accredited training programs. Research involves brain tumors (tumor-targeted immunotherapy and genetics), pituitary tumors, spinal tumors, convection-enhanced drug delivery, syringomyelia, neurodegenerative disorders, and epilepsy. Post-residency fellowships are also available.
Qualifications
Required:
- Permanent residents or US citizens
- Graduates of accredited medical (or osteopathic) schools who have completed an internship.
All employees are subject to a background investigation.
Neurosurgeons-in training who are considering careers in academic neurosurgery are encouraged to apply. Resident fellows receive ABNS research credit for their work with the approval of their program chairman. Fellowships are for 1 or 2 years.

Salary and Benefits
Salary is $63,743 (PGY2) to $98,298 (PGY7) per annum with eligibility for annual $2,500 increases.
